Pride

Good Morning!

Through pride and presumption come nothing but strife, but [skillful and godly] wisdom is with those who welcome [well-advised] counsel.  -Proverbs 13:10

A lot of times arguments are a result of someone’s pride and like the verse above states, through pride comes nothing but strife. Are we open to receiving advice, or do we think we have it all figured out and nobody else actually knows as much as we do? For me, some of the simplest advice or the most profound a-ha moments have come from children. We can brush any advice off by saying, “They don’t understand the situation”, and while that might be true it also doesn’t mean that advice, or at least part of it, isn’t useful and true. God has a way of speaking to us from many angles, so don’t be quick to dismiss someone’s advice, instead examine that advice to see if it lines up with scripture and if so it might be advice worth considering.

“A smart person knows what to say, a wise person knows whether or not to say it.”

“Wise people speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.”

Dad Joke of the Day:

When a kid says, “Daddy, I want Mommy”, that’s the kid version of “I’d like to speak to your supervisor.”

Have a great Tuesday!
