Loyalty

Good Morning!

For I desire and delight in [steadfast] loyalty [faithfulness in the covenant relationship], rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.  -Hosea 6:6

This verse was written before Jesus came to earth and Jesus reiterated it in His teachings as well. What I take this verse to mean is that God desires our loyalty and faithfulness over our rituals. If we are just going through the motions in our faith walk and if we are not engaged we lose touch of God, we lose touch of what’s important, we tend to then focus on the rituals instead of the meaning behind the rituals. God desires and delights in our loyal and faithful relationship with Him over everything else that we do. The people that Jesus got the most frustrated and upset over was the ritualistic Pharisees that held the importance of their rituals over everything. How do you think today’s church would vary in our response to Jesus compared to how they responded back then? Would it be any different?

“Our faith in God requires us to take care of the possible, and trust God to take care of the impossible.”

“Desire toward God and you will have desires from God and He will meet you on the line of those desires when you reach out in simple faith.”  -Smith Wigglesworth
