Bless & Show Kindness

Good Morning!

Bless and show kindness to those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Whoever strikes you on the cheek, offer him the other one also [simply ignore insignificant insults or losses and do not bother to retaliate—maintain your dignity]. Whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. -Luke 6:28-29

This is a tough one, the world teaches us to stand up for ourselves and not let anyone walk over us, or if someone does something to us we have to retaliate and make sure they feel what we felt…..this is what seems natural. But the verse above shows us a better way, a way that feels much better on the other side of everything. If you know a person that can walk this out, do you look at them as strong or weak? It takes waymore strength to show kindness to those who curse you, to pray for those who mistreat you, to turn the other cheek to someone who hurt you, to give more to someone after they just took something from you. I would argue that the only way anyone is able to do that successfully is if they have a relationship with Jesus. Let us be the church and exercise this to the fullest!

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

“An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

Dad Joke of the Day:

“Just cleared out some space in the freezer” sounds so much more productive than “I just polished off another pint of ice cream.”

Have a great Thursday!
