So then, in everything treat others the same way you want them to treat you, for this is [the essence of] the Law and the [writings of the] Prophets.  -Matthew 7:12

Not only is the Golden Rule good to live by but it is also biblical. I would even take it a step further and suggest treating others the way they want to be treated because the way we want to be treated might be differ from the way they want to be treated. Communication is key, not only are we responsible for how we come across to other people, we also have a responsibility in conveying something in a way that we think will make sense and resonate with the other person. We can maybe say all the right things but if it comes across to the person as something else we haven’t properly communicated and while we can’t control the other person’s perception we can also not throw out all means of trying to communicate properly.
