For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!” -Romans 8:15
I love this verse! So many times we let ourselves be led by the spirit of slavery, either in fear of what might happen or not happen, or in slavery to addiction, or in the slavery of self image. We, as Christians, are adopted in as a child of God, we are not a slave but an heir. There is no reason for us to be slave to anything. The world and the enemy do their best to make us believe otherwise, they try to make us believe that in that slavery we somehow find freedom and that is where the answers lie but like anywhere where there is a lack of light the darkness will eventually take over. You can not push back darkness with more darkness, you need light to do that and the only true light in this world is our faith in God our Father. Let us blaze this verse in our mind and the next time we are tempted to enter into slavery of something let us be reminded that there is no reason that we need to be slaves.
