Do Good Deeds

Our people must learn to do good deeds to meet necessary demands [whatever the occasion may require], so that they will not be unproductive.  -Titus 3:14

This is Paul writing to a friend and fellow Christian, Titus, pertaining to helping people that are traveling missionaries to make sure they have everything they need as they pass through their area. It seems like it was a problem at the time and they had to be told to help. What stuck out to me on this is that this verse implies that if we are not doing good deeds we are unproductive. I think this applies to someone that is too lazy to go out of their way to help someone else, but this also applies to someone that is too busy living for themselves that they don’t take the time to go out of their way to help someone else. We can be busy and get lots of things done but if we aren’t doing it to further the Kingdom of God we could argue that we are being unproductive. The good deeds we do will have a lasting impact on the people we are doing them for, it can even change the whole direction of their life depending on the how it’s received. When good deeds are done with a pure heart we experience heaven on earth and we defeat evil in this way. Let’s keep our eyes open to do a good deed this week and then when the opportunity presents itself, let’s follow through with it.

“Good things that we give out into the world are never lost.”

“Do good things whether others notice or not. It’s the deeds that matter, not the size of your audience.”
