Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility]. -Philippians 2:5
The two verses before this say to hold other people as more important than yourself and to not merely look out for your own interests but also the interests of others. Jesus modeled all this so well which the above verse is saying and we should model ourselves after Him. In verse 3 it says to hold other people as more important than yourself, this means all other people, not just the famous or people with certain status. As humans we almost subconsciously compare and rate ourselves according to other people and in our mind determine where we rank in importance and the people that are “beneath” us often don’t get the same treatment from us as the ones that are “above” us. All people are precious in God’s eyes and should be in ours as well, no matter their social status. Live as Jesus did. Ask yourself the age old question: WWJD, What Would Jesus Do?
