Come Close to God

Good Morning!

Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people].  -James 4:8

When we come close to God with a humble heart, He will draw close to us as well. How awesome is that, that the closer we come to Him the closer He comes to us? We often get this picture that when we are in pursuit of someone or something that person or thing keeps moving away from us. With God it’s a lot like a healthy marriage in that the closer you draw to your spouse the more intimate your relationship gets, the more you know about each other. With God it definitely is that way, in the more pursuit you put into it the closer and more relational your relationship with God is. The second half of the verse is also important, we need to consistently examine ourselves and wash our hands, purify ourselves, of any wrongdoing we may have done. We need to make it right with God and with any people we may have hurt. We are by nature, imperfect people, and in order to stay in good relationship with God we need to cleanse ourselves of sin on a consistent basis. What are you changing in your daily routine to be more relational with God?

“If it stops you from getting closer to God, then it needs to go.”

“The more I draw near to God, the more His presence fills every void in my life.”

Dad Joke of the Day:

What’s the best part of a waffle?

The “W.” Without it it’s just awful.

Have a great Tuesday!
